This is information technology! This is the recipe I have been looking for. I had wet burritos when I was growing upward in West Michigan. Could not find it ever again when I moved from there. Delight do not compare with regular burritos that are made in the due south. These accept their own identity and taste. I made these for my family unit and got total rave reviews all around the tabular array. Thank you lot for posting this recipe!!!

Took what I considered to be a run a risk on this recipe since I had some chopped meat and wanted to endeavor a unlike recipe form the usual taco meat. Jar gravy ?? I dont even use jar gravy @ Thanksgiving but I tried the recipe as is...and...loved information technology! Did Not like the left overs couple days later simply that wont terminate me from making once more. Thanks W. Michigan

Coming from GR Michigan, I have been trying to duplicate this and could never get the sauce right! Thank you...we love it.
07/03/2012
Wet burritos are a favorite here. I ran out of time so didn't bake them, simply filled, rolled and and so covered with sauce hot from the pan and veggies. Non quite the same just still quite skilful. I made homemade sauce and used fresh tomatoes rather than canned.

I, similar Jordan, am from Grand Rapids and moved to Atlanta. When I saw Hashemite kingdom of jordan's last proper noun, I knew I had to endeavor this. I made it exactly equally designed, hoping to recreate the famous B*ltl*due north* B*r moisture burrito. If you've had it y'all probably know that you can't notice this anywhere else but in Westward Michigan. It did not disappoint! Yes, information technology's the gravy. What a surprise. To be sure, this recipe is not designed to be a Texas burrito, or a California burrito, and we got a kick out of some of the comments that tried to make this something that information technology wasn't designed for. This is the West Michigan wet burrito. It is heavy and delicious! This is the best attempt I've run into to indistinguishable information technology. Three of u.s. downward here in Atlanta, all native West Michigan, gave this 5 stars and 2 thumbs upwardly. That being said, we are going to experiment a little going forward. Nosotros don't want to alter the flavour, information technology's fantabulous and as designed! We think at that place might be a little more beef and a picayune less edible bean. This recipe turned out a little less dry out than the real thing at B*ltl*n* and so I may try overcooking the beef and leaving the juice out of the diced tomatoes in the beef mixture. Finally, nosotros are going to attempt putting the lettuce, tomato, and onion in the burrito, putting all of the cheese exterior, and then practice a low broil instead of blistering. We will keep all of yous West Michiganders posted. Thank you Jordan!

I know I'm going against the pack here but we were really excited to endeavour this recipe and were a fleck dissapointed. Nosotros thought the sauce was a bit bland and are trying to effigy out if it was the jar of gravy that actually turned usa off. Information technology just wasn't for usa.

This got raves from my married man. He even went equally far equally to say it is better than On The Edge's food. While this was good it wasn't the same flavor every bit OTB. This was mild and more than Midwesternized than TexMex. I don't know how this can only yield four burritos though as I got 8 and they were blimp and I still had some filling left. I didn't have refried beans and then I took a can of Ranch Mode beans non-drained and smashed them up some and went from in that location. I mixed the bean/comino mix into the meat and so all I had to do to build these was a scoop of beefiness/edible bean mix and some cheese then curlicue up and move on to the next one. I only used 2/3 a can of diced tomatoes and did add a pinch of kosher salt to the beef mix. I used medium spice canned enchilada sauce and a jar of dark-brown gravy. I didn't have a lot of but Cheddar and so I used a mexican cheese blend mix too. This was a nice mild dish and my husband raved. He is looking forrad to taking the leftovers to piece of work for lunch and sharing. Nosotros consume a lot of Mexican food and this passed our sense of taste exam. This was not my favorite but hubs loved it and had seconds so that makes information technology a keeper. My biggest complaint? It dirtied a lot of pots! Oh well, the food is expert and that is what matters most. Thanks, I really enjoyed trying out this new recipe!

The flavor was astonishing, but the steps to make and get together were trying every bit I was also trying to calm my 3 month old baby. I will make again, but when I have someone watching my footling 1. I put 2 unbaked burritos in the freezer for hereafter meals.
07/09/2012
I brand alot of traditional mexican food merely sometimes you lot just want sloppy truck finish burritos and this is it. Information technology goes together fast and it is eaten fast. Bully stuff!
12/28/2012
Taste like somethng you'd go far a mexican restaurant! First-class!!!
10/21/2012
Was very skeptical, never have I mixed beef gravy and enchilada sauce! Wow! This was delicious!! Thank you J.Five. for sharing this recipe with everyone! I followed this recipe to a T...wouldn't brand whatsoever changes!
07/12/2013
Just similar West MI! Not authentic Mexican, merely who cares?! I cringed when I saw the jar of gravy in the ingredient list, but information technology makes the sauce taste simply like home (a good thing). Don't try to make it fancy or authentic, just make it and enjoy! Better than nearly restaurants. Thanks for the recipe.
03/20/2014
I really enjoyed this recipe. I was very skeptical at kickoff, but it came together. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!
12/23/2012
These were excelllent. The spices made it not too spicy but only right. I used small tortillas and made 12 burritos
01/17/2013
My family loves Mexican food, merely I had never heard of wet burritos before. Ran across this recipe and decided to try it. I followed the ingredients listing and instructions exactly, did not alter one thing. They are quite huge, then information technology was more iv servings for usa. They were a hitting, and I will be adding this recipe to my cookbook. Give thanks you!
08/30/2012
We made a few changes based on our ain preferences. We added a large tin can of diced chilies, used gr. turkey, didn't layer - why when it just adds to prep fourth dimension and dirty dishes - and didn't add the cheese until the sauce started to bubble in the center. We were skeptical, but it was GREAT!!! Thank you!
01/29/2013
OH YUM!! Made exactly equally written and I wouldn't change a thing. These are the best burritos I accept ever fabricated. Thanks Jordan!
09/03/2013
Edit 1-28-17: This fourth dimension I fabricated the recipe exactly as written with the exception that I added the beans to the shells earlier the meat (easier to spread). As I stated in my initial review, this recipe is perfect as written and needs no improvements, yet it's so versatile. My family said that this was their favorite burrito still. They compared it to a local favorite Mexican restaurant. Wonderful! Big striking at our business firm. I did deviate in a major mode from the recipe, I used left-over turkey instead of ground beef. I also did add together a petty craven broth to make the mixture a little juicier and lacking beef gravy in a jar, I fabricated some from scratch. The beef gravy/enchilada sauce did not fight with the turkey inside. Instead it complimented it. I have ZERO doubt that this recipe would be just as practiced, and probably amend, if I had used ground beefiness, and I will in the near time to come. Information technology was blazing hot today and didn't want to start the oven, so I did this on the grill and that worked wonderfully also. This is my go-to recipe from now on.

A popular Mexican restaurant serves a fantastic dish called "Pepe'southward Burro". One main departure is that it has chunks of beef rather than basis beef. The beef gravy flavor from the sauce is much more pronounced in this recipe, and I would tame it downward side by side time these are made. In fact, might eliminate the jar gravy and just go with 2 cans enchilada sauce, beef bouillon flavoring, and a trivial flour or corn starch if the sauce needs thickening. Otherwise, these burritos are pretty skillful. A pocket-sized particular . . . lightly mist the bottom of baking dish with a cooking spray. Thank you Hashemite kingdom of jordan for sharing this recipe.
03/01/2014
Absolutely delicious.
06/17/2012
This recipe was outstanding, and like shooting fish in a barrel to make..family loved it and I will definenately make this recipe once more and once again.
02/11/2013
This is a review of the sauce. I made the sauce to pour over my bean burritos (Refried Beans Without the Refry ) from this site. This sauce was fantastic for our bean burritos and I made the recipe as written.
01/17/2013
Very expert. Gravy - who would have thought! Adjacent time I volition try a spicier enchilada sauce but overall it was very proficient!
09/22/2017
Made the recipe virtually exactly the same. My family loves it!!! I have vii people in my family and it is well-nigh impossible to delight everyone but this recipe won everyone over. It is as close as you lot can get to a mid west eating place fashion wet Burrito! The only drawback is the corporeality of ingredients and the fourth dimension to arrive but don't let that scare y'all just brand it. Great recipe give it a effort.
02/01/2013
I use venison, leave out the onion. I brand a large batch and freeze the leftovers. They reheat well for Rob's lunch. We like these a lot!
02/28/2014
I follow the recipe pretty close as far every bit ingredients, simply since it's just the 2 of the states, I brand the burritos individually. I buy large burritos shells, make full them to our likings, pour the sauce over top, sprinkle with cheese then warm in the microwave. This mode nosotros can each choose what we like for fillings & toppings. In my stance the recipe for the sauce is far far amend than the other recipe with over 700 reviews! I've made these w/ shredded beef, chicken, and ground beef. All keen!
02/25/2013
groovy recipe. i used medium chunky salsa instead of diced tomatoes came out great. fresh spices add an impact too. mmmmmm
03/08/2014
Following the recipe to a "T", the meat is bland. I ended upwards calculation a heavy dose of taco seasoning...at the very least, add together salt. I LOVE cumin but it did not go well in the refried beans. The "gravy" was very good on information technology'south ain but in one case it was on the burrito, all of the flavors just barbarous flat. This won't be a repeat here.
01/16/2013
Could do without the gravy.
01/27/2013
Pretty Skillful! Will make it once again.
08/23/2015
This was really, really, actually good! We live near Grand Rapids, MI, and in that location are a few restaurants that serve a fantastic beef burrito, and this is very comparable to the best restaurants. LOVE it!!! Thank you for the nifty recipe! I will make this many more times!
11/06/2013
Very good recipe - definitely will exist making this over again...and over again...
03/25/2016
I am from West Michigan and this is how wet burritos are done here. Slap-up recipe.
10/06/2016
I fabricated the recipe as written and information technology came out perfect! Husband and teenage kids said information technology tasted like it was from a Mexican restaurant
03/02/2017
I made this recipe without changes! It was delicious! Side by side time I will double the sauce because instead of 4 large burritos I made eight. With additional sauce I will have more for serving over the top! I put the edible bean layer beginning, as someone mentioned, information technology was easier to spread that way!
02/10/2014
This was a really adept recipe. I did make a few changes to it, 1 was setting it to iv servings. I used turkey instead of ground beefiness. I added 1/2 tin can chopped green peppers to the meat. I didn't accept gravy, so I used dry poultry gravy to make 1.5 c. Even trying to fill the tortillas, I have enough to brand additional then I'm going to freeze the left over meat and sauce. This really made me call up of my favorite Mexican restaurant. Moving to Family unit Favorite.
07/11/2020
This turned out better than I had hoped. It made 4 giant burritos. Maybe next fourth dimension, if I can observe smaller flour tortillas, I'll make smaller and more burritos. Otherwise, piece of cake and good for a weeknight dinner.
02/fourteen/2017
The ingredients were enough for 6 burritos. Make certain to put some sauce in the pan first before placing the burritos in or else they'll stick to the pan and make a mess trying to take them out. The burritos were simply equally good fresh equally what they are for left overs which was a win-win!

My family unit has lived in Grand Rapids for 20 years and had no idea this was a Westward Michigan recipe until reading through the comments. Tasted but like the wet burrito sauce from Taco Male child (much closer to us than Beltline Bar). I did make a few tweaks: I didn't have whatever beef gravy and so made a gravy using beef burgoo and added that to the enchilada sauce leaving out the dice tomatoes as I added the whole can to the meat instead. (Beef gravy, who knew?!) I besides upped the corporeality of spice in the meat for more flavor. I spread each tortilla with a small layer of the refried beans before calculation the beef then I added diced onions (soaked in water and lime juice to kill off some of the onion authority), lettuce, and tomato to the inside of the burrito before folding information technology up and roofing information technology with sauce and cheese then broiled it on low simply until the cheese melted, maintaining the crispness of the lettuce. My whole family loved it and said it tasted spot on. Cheers!

I live in 1000 Rapids. my kid wanted wet burritos. I exercise not similar these at the restaurant that makes them, but these are not bad.
06/10/2015
Ridiculous Good! Tasted improve than a eating place IMO. The Just alter I fabricated, which isn't really anything, is that I added some chicken stock to the beans to make them "looser" and easier to spread. I as well added (with the other stated seasonings)Adobo seasoning to the meat, beans, and sauce. Thanks for the recipe!
08/13/2018
Was not happy with this recipe , I volition go back to Tamale sauce and brown gravy mix That Tate more like wet burritos I grew up on in Michigan
03/03/2015
Delicious! Both Married man & I loved information technology. Didn't change a matter other than venison for the beef which nosotros do all the time.
05/10/2020
I followed the recipe exactly without fifty-fifty estimating the diverse herbs and spices. I was extremely disappointed and exercise not recommend this version. I am sure there is a much improve recipe than this.
05/18/2013
I take to agree with truck stop burrito comment, but not in a good style. I'thousand from the Midwest then I can say that while my husband (from Michigan) liked it, it was way too heavy for me... (why I moved to California in the first place, to get away from the heavy food). I did similar that it was really quick, but next time I'll go out the gravy out and but use a mole sauce. I did though dearest that the cook actually used real spices. The flavors were pretty skilful.
04/23/2013
Surprisingly good. I was kind of skeptical but it turned out well!
05/23/2014
I didn't change a affair other than add some table salt. It was bang-up.
05/25/2014
My family loved information technology the only thing is that some of them wanted thyme instead of oregano and real pinto beans instead of refried ones. I did not even become 1, I took mind out while I was cooking. dear Michele.....
03/01/2015
Skillful. My family liked it.
12/ten/2013
I take made this recipe many times earlier but since my review no longer is posted on the new site( which I hate), I will review again and so I can re-create and paste to my notes. This is one of the best burrito recipes I have ever made. I did not take jarred gravy on mitt, so I made my own. Would highly recommend. The season combo of these burritos is over the top.
03/01/2015
This recipe reminds me of burritos nosotros used to get in northern Michigan at the Sugarfoot Saloon. Dainty mild flavor. The combination of the flavors is a squeamish pleasant experience.
03/24/2016
Establish this to be very good. Only changes I fabricated was using Rotel instead of diced tomatoes.
03/14/2017
This was a huge striking in my household tonight! It's a must that I add together it the regular rotation.
08/09/2015
This is a very authentic, Mexican restaurant tasting recipe!! My family unit loves information technology, and asks for it all the time!! I add fresh chopped cilantro into the beans when they are simmering on the stove, and I besides add it some to the mixture when assembling the burritos. I besides add some fresh dices jalapenos to the burrito mixture, for a lilliputian extra heat! Thanks for this slap-up recipe!!
05/26/2018
Loved this version, added frozen corn for a chip more texture. Nosotros will brand again very before long.
03/04/2018
Hubby wanted burritos and I happened upon this one. It was Keen, very filling and flavorful. will likely add some jalapenos next fourth dimension for a little spice.
06/11/2013
Ive already made this four times. This is a keeper! Thanks for sharing it!
06/21/2019
Was super easy and my married man loved information technology!!! We fabricated them together. Nosotros volition bake without the gravy on them next time to continue them crispy and cascade gravy on later.
03/03/2016
My roommate liked it. This is definitely high on the endeavour side of the the effort:taste scale.
05/21/2016
The idea of jar brownish gravy was a total turn off for me, so I changed information technology to a jar of salsa (hot. family loves spicy). Major hitting with this alter. The other reason I had to make the changes is I don't remember always buying jar gravy, lol...and I always have salsa in the house.
08/20/2017
Yes, I would brand it again. Information technology's worth all the problem.
06/x/2017
I've made these 3 times now and the but thing I've inverse is I apply pioneer brown gravy mix instead of the jar type,it has a improve flavour and it'south non every bit salty. They are always gone with out any leftovers. Can't go wrong with this recipe.
07/08/2013
Pretty good.
01/25/2015
Fabulous! Made exactly to recipe and turned out perfect!
04/12/2014
I Fabricated this tonight and it was delicious! My husband went back for seconds and said "freeze the rest and I volition have with me." (He is a truck driver and cooks all his own meals or heats up what I take cooked while he is on the road.)
04/eighteen/2017
This is it! So piece of cake so good!
03/15/2014
This is the wet burrito recipe I have been trying to detect/figure out forever! And then the play a joke on was a jar of beef gravy!?!?! I've tried so many different things and could never get the sauce to taste right! Thank you very much!
xi/22/2015
OH MY GOSH!! I read the recipe and thought beef gravy hmmmm ....Tried it, LOVE IT!!! Love easy recipes that taste delish as my 9 yr erstwhile chosen it!
03/28/2017
I made this using the recipe exactly. It was not bad. The just thing I would change is adding a fiddling rut but I like things spicy.
01/25/2015
Made as written. It was ok at best.
02/03/2017
This was and so adept, my kids asked for it once more! Went looking for a recipe to use up leftover beef roast gravy. Didn't accept tomatoes, so I used salsa. Because salsa has some spice, I only used 1 TSP chili pulverization and left out the pepper. Couldn't find enchilada sauce, but had a packet of burrito sauce and taco sauce from the old El Paso kits. Tasted great! As another reviewer mentioned, four tortillas is too few. I will try six side by side time.
09/07/2015
My family doesn't care for refried beans so I substitued stove top Spanish rice for the beans. Turned out very well.
04/08/2022
Then much improve than a regular enchilada! I know I had a wet burrito years ago, but never knew what the difference was. Now, I know!
